Two Americans Shot Dead At U.S.- T.J. Mexico Border

Mexican authorities have identified the two American men who were murdered in Tijuana as 25-year-old Sergio Salcido Luna (Moon) -- a mixed martial arts fighter -- and his friend 28-year-old Kevin Joel Romero.

The men were gunned down while sitting in their white pickup truck at the San Ysidro border crossing in Tijuana at 2:40 a.m. Monday.

Witnesses told police that a gunman approached their truck and opened fire, striking the men in the head, arms and body.

The gunman got away, but detectives say they found 9-mm shell casings at the scene, ammunition used in weapons favored by the drug cartel in Mexico.

According to mmavalor.com, Salcido, had moved from his home in Bakersfield to San Diego and then Mexico to chase his dream of being an MMA fighter.

State authorities have reported five homicides in Tijuana since the beginning of April and 49 murders in March.
